American Birding Association Podcast

Last week, I was interviewed by Nate Swick of the American Birding Association, and just today my interview was published as a podcast—A Whole World of Seabirds with Peter Harrison

In this podcast, I discuss the advances that have been made in seabird identification and science in the 40 years since the publication of my first book in 1983, SEABIRDS: An Identification Guide. I talk about the many challenges and successes that I’ve experienced throughout my thousands of hours of research, and my approach to describing the 434 known seabird species in SEABIRDS: The New Identification Guide. I share my favorite place in the world to observe seabirds—the island of South Georgia. And, I touch on the future of seabird identification, along with the growing threats to seabirds today, from plastic pollution in our oceans to the introduction of rodents on seabird islands. Thank you for listening.
